WHO ARE WE?

  • Founded in 1900, Fruithandel Wouters is a family business which has been operating in the fruit sector for four generations now, and has ever been expanding its activities since then. First as growers, later as wholesalers and exporters. Today, Romain Wouters is still tending his orchards with the help of his two sons, Kris and Wim.
  • In 1992, Fruithandel Wouters started exporting Fruit and Vegetables to Eastern Europe. Nowadays, 95% of our products go to Russia, even though our commitment to working in partnership with other regions is also very strong. 
  • Fruithandel Wouters works will all kinds of fruit and vegetables, except bananas and citrus. However, one of our top products is the CONFERENCE pear, which is available from September till July. These are top quality pears due to an extensive quality control and storage in ULO (Ultra Low Oxigen) facilities, thereby guaranteeing a constant supply of day-fresh pears. Combine this with the fact that we are located in the best European region for the culture of Conference and you understand that this gives us a marked advantage over our competitors. Besides the CONFERENCE, we also offer other varieties such as DURONDEAU and DOYENNE DE COMICE.
  • Our other mainstay is of course apples, of which JONAGOLD and JONAGORED are the top varieties. These come packed in 8kg mirror boxes, combining freshness with presentation, always a winning combination. We also have the exclusivity for the PRIMO apples.
  • Further, our range of products includes fresh fruit from Spain, France and Italy. We obtain these at the best conditions (price and quality), due to the fact that we have our own purchasing offices in these countries, staffed with qualified ad competent personnel. This further improves our capacity to compose trucks with all European products to meet our client's most demanding requirements.
  • As far as tomatoes are concerned, we can offer in summertime the main Belgian brands at competitive prices. During the winter, we can offer Spanish and Moroccan tomatoes, under the brandnames Idyl and Beauty.
  • Should our clients require that we offer a wide variety of other fruit and vegetables, we can also offer strawberries and all other varieties of berries, lettuce, kiwi, stonefruit, etc..., with the exception of bananas and citrus fruit.
  • Fruithandel Wouters is located in the heart of the Belgian fruit reagon and also owns plantations in Slovakia, where a joint venture has been established with the company Bonifructi (import and wholesale) in Bratislava, with Danubius Frukt (production of apples, pears and sweet cherries) and Plantex (production of apples, pears, peaches and fruittree nursery), opening up a wide field of possibilities for further expansion.
